We're excited to be presenting our first movie night of the summer, generously hosted by the fabulous new brewery in Waldoboro, Odd Alewives Farm Brewery. After Artwalk Waldoboro on June 9th, walk up the hill by 8pm and join us in watching Howard Hawks' classic comedy, HIS GIRL FRIDAY.
Odd Alewives will be serving their incredible collection of beers, brewed right on site from home-grown ingredients, and the Waldo will bring the new popcorn machine (thanks again to The Narrows Tavern!) No charge to get in but donations for popcorn, all of which will go toward the Waldo Theatre's renovations, will be gratefully accepted.
Those of you who haven't seen HIS GIRL FRIDAY (wait, seriously?), are in for a real treat. This 1940 classic features Cary Grant, at maybe his most swoon-worthy, as a newspaper editor trying to keep his ex-wife and ace reporter, played by the witty, fast-talking Rosalind Russell, from remarrying. Madcap hilarity ensues. They both wear fantastic hats throughout. Some have called it a feminist comedy. You'll have to come watch it to decide for yourself.
The New York Times seems to like it too.
We can't wait to see you all there. June 9th. 8pm. Odd Alewives. Oh, but first swing by the theatre between 4 and 7 pm and take a tour, drink some wine, see some fantastic artwork by talented local artists. (Click here for more about that.)
