The lineup of entertainment for the Raising the Roof Barn Party fundraiser has been released and we couldn't be more excited! Among the talent coming to perform at Tops'l Farm in Waldoboro on August 1st, is the Maine Youth Rock Orchestra (MYRO).
From the MYRO website: "Maine Youth Rock Orchestra, a 501(c)(3) organization, redefines music education for students of all backgrounds and demographics through collaboration with national artists, creating transformational experiences. Students who participate in MYRO ensembles are able to express their individuality through a classical skill set, while performing concerts with nationally-recognized artists that reinforce their love for alternative genres from classical.

Rehearsing once a week, MYRO brings together a community of individuals that share their love for all genres of music and the passion to perform in concerts, demonstrating what it is like to be a rock star orchestral musician at an early age."
It's a fantastic project and the quality of their performances has garnered national attention.
Based in Portland, MYRO has been featured with The Ballroom Thieves on NPR Music's 'First Watch':
They've been on TEDxDirigo, and won the 2016 DownEast Magazine 'Best Band' Award. They've performed with a few dozen artists, including Kishi Bashi, Darlingside, Guster, The Ballroom Thieves, Ghost of Paul Revere, Shook Twins, Gregory Alan Isakov, The DuPont Brothers, and Max Garcia Conover.
Watch their documentary series, Orchestrating Change, for an in-depth look.
Enjoy 'Blow the House Down' from Darlingside accompanied by Maine Youth Rock Orchestra, performed at The Strand Theatre in Rockland:
MYRO will be backing up John Stirratt (of Wilco and The Autumn Defense). A talented multi-instrumentalist, Stirratt's formidable songwriting ability is showcased in a recent release from Wilco, Myrna Lee:
