As the Raising the Roof Barn Party date gets closer, our excitement is growing! We are delighted that The Ale House String Band, a local favorite, will be in the lineup of entertainment for the evening. Mark your calendars for August 1st and don't forget to buy tickets! You won't want to miss this talented trio.
Oren Robinson, April Reed-Cox, and Brian Dunn formed the band as a pick-up group in 2009 at Waldoboro's own Narrows Tavern.
From the band's website: "They codified their style, "chamber folk," while playing traditional tunes and covers of popular folk music. Their style is unique, melding the theory and techniques of classical music with Traditional Folk styles. Oren is a classically trained vocalist, Brian is a wandering soul who picked up music along the way, and April has a Masters degree in Music Performance. The three have an uncanny ability to improvise music on the spot and occasionally offend random Baptists." We'll take a front row seat to that!
We're guessing the livestock doesn't perform but they do put on a lively show! The Ale House String Band was on News Center Maine's 207 last year, promoting their newest album. Have a listen!
Easy on the ears! Here's a track off their new album, Chasing Gold:
You can read more about the band on their website, and follow them on YouTube!
But you should definitely come see them live in person, along with John Stirrat, Maine Youth Rock Orchestra, and Oshima Brothers on August 1st at Tops'l Farm! Bring your friends. It'll be the party of the summer.
