On Saturday, May 19th a group of board members and volunteers gathered at the Waldo to begin our spring cleaning! Our goal is to make the theatre inviting for tours and our ArtWalk Waldoboro visitors, despite the much-needed renovations still to come.
There was a lot to accomplish - one group worked inside, cleaning out rubbish, vacuuming and scraping paint:
Board member Amanda Stover tackles dust behind the old Photophones
Events Committee member Sarah Shea vacuums happily!
The rest of our crew worked outside! It was a beautiful day in Maine, so they took full advantage and trimmed bushes, edged and weeded all around the exterior of the theatre and parking lot.
Many thanks to Penelope Crane of the Waldoboro Garden Club and Steve Warren of Pine Street Gardens
Waldoboro town manager Julie Keizer joined in the fun!
We want to give a special thanks to Shannon and Amanda Mahan from Mac Tree Service. They generously donated their time and equipment to clear up brush around the theatre - they even brought their chipper!
It's beginning to look pretty spiffy around these parts again! Many thanks to the entire group who came out: Shannon and Amanda Mahan of Mac Tree Service, Steve Warren of Pine Street Gardens, Penelope Crane, Waldoboro Town Manager Julie Keizer, Arvin Roen, Sarah Shea, and board members Sanford Crane, Bruce Metrick, Amanda Stover and Erin Sproul.
Make sure to stop by the Waldo during ArtWalk Waldoboro! The first walk is Saturday, June 9th, from 4-7pm. Artwalk is the second Saturday of every month from June-October and we'll be set up outside giving out popcorn (thanks to The Narrows Tavern for our slick new popcorn machine!). We'll also have a different artist's work on display every month.
The old saying goes, "many hands make light work." Want to pitch in? We'd love to have you. Find out how here.
